Your Questions About Tree Storm Damage Repair

Donald asks…
Apple tree damaged, will it produce fruit next year or die?
a huge pine tree snapped in a wind storm and it fell on my apple tree. A large apple limb was torn from the main trunk, and I could see into the middle of the trunk. Had it patched with some tree repair, but I don’t know if it will live or not. Anyone had a similar fate? and if so, what be the outcome?
Tree Service Professional answers:
My Dad owned an Apple orchard and we’ve gone through many storms and bad winds. We lost many branches through the years but if you could see into the middle of the trunk it sounds like it will have a rough time making it. Maybe a couple years to come back growing good again. I think when the trunk gets disturbed it might not make it but give it time and wait and see.

Three weeks ago while I was at work, a storm came and blew a tree over on my Explorer.?
I did not have comprehensive insurance. My vehicle was parked behind the county jail in a city parking lot. Is the City of Columbia responsible for repairing the damage to my vehicle?
Tree Service Professional answers:
No , it will be considered an act of nature

Robert asks…
roof damage to dwelling due to tree falling on it?
A patch of shingles on the roof were damaged by limb falling on it due to ice storm. The shingles are 15 year old composition shingles and a spot repair won’t match. It’s on the front of the house. What will the insurance company do since they can’t match the shingles? A new roof, or what?
Tree Service Professional answers:
That could be highly specific to your home owners insurance policy as to whether just the damage is repaired or the entire roof. As mentioned above, with the apparent age of the tiles, it could go either way. Call your insurance agent and go over all the details. Also remember that you can only have so many claims (regardless of fault) before you will be dropped (usually three), so personally, I would save them for big ticket items. I hope this helps

James asks…
During a storm, our neighbors tree fell onto a fence on the property line we share. Who pays to fix the fence?
We paid for the fence and put it up ourselves. The damages are approximately $500. Our homeowners insurance deductible is $1000. Who legally is responsible for repairing the fence?
Tree Service Professional answers:
It is just the opposite as another suggested. If a live tree fall from your neighbor’s property their insurance should pay. If it was dead, and they know it was dead, the nieghbor pay, their insurance would exclude the hazard, because most policies say you must remove dead trees.

Sandra asks…
Damage from storm – holes in roof & insurance implications.?
A neighbor’s tree just put 2 holes in my roof – and of course water is leaking in. How is this usually handled in terms of my insurance. Should I simply get it repaired as soon as possible & then put in a claim? (Yes, I am totally ignorant when it comes to these practical matters.)
Tree Service Professional answers:
You need to do what is necessary to prevent further damage. File the claim as soon as possible.
